Just turn up We are 4 doors down from the back of the Cain Hotel on the same side. First double fronted house.
This was a former vets house. It is a rambling old pile, notionally semi detached.
We wanted our house to be warm and not drafty and we wanted to do this in the most low carbon way. If we were putting in heating and lighting and hot water we wanted it to be green.
We have installed Solar panels paid for with an interest free loan via Robert Owen Bank.
Internal wall insulation and an air source heat pump were installed by CES. a Welsh company, free as part of national scheme.
The windows paid for by us with interest free credit using Safestyle.
Regarding costings, the windows cost £8000, Solar panels £11,000, Insulation and heat pump free to us but worth approx £25,000.
It is difficult yet to quantify the savings yet. Last year we had the panels fitted in February and by Christmas we had accumulated £500 surplus on our electricity standing order. The heat pump is newly fitted but currently spending about £1-2 per day on electricity which is for everything. The gas meter is being removed next month.
What I would have like is an Ecostove but it was far too expensive.
