Detached bungalow, Built 2005, Timber frame with brick skin.  Slate roof. Recent flat roofed extension with lantern.

Installed solar panels (pv).Increased insulation in roof-space. New extension to kitchen with underfloor heating, maximum insulation, triple glazing and increased thermal comfort.  Converted garage to bathroom and bedroom also with underfloor heating. Replaced gas boiler with air-source heat pump. Cut off mains gas and have induction hob. House is now all electric.

The improvements were made to reduce carbon footprint and become more energy efficient and self sufficient.

Including new extension, the costs were approximately £65,000

Too soon to judge what energy savings were made, but PV panels make significant contribution to energy bill.

We recommend Local Builder RBS and Sons, Solarkinetic (pv panels) and MJS (ASHP)

We also considered secondary heat source (wood burner) as house has chimney and we have access to wood supply but decided it was too impractical at our age!
